Candle Care

First Burn

Before lighting your candle, take a moment to inspect the vessel for any damages.

When lighting your candle for the first time, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar. This ensures an even burn and prevents tunnelling, where only part of the wax melts, shortening the candle’s life.

Soy wax melts at a lower temperature than other waxes, which means it releases fragrance beautifully and lasts longer. It's natural for the wax to melt all the way to the bottom—just be mindful not to knock the vessel, as we wouldn’t want to waste any of that lovely scent!

Trim Your Wicks

Before each burn, make sure to trim your wick to about 5mm. This can be easily done by pinching off the burnt wick with your fingers, or by using a wick trimmer. Trimming the wick will help prevent black smoke and keep your candle burning cleanly.

Safety First

Always burn your candle on a stable, fire-resistant surface, away from anything flammable like books, plants, and fabrics. Before lighting, make sure no wick trimmings or used matches have fallen into the wax.

Limit Burn time

To get the most out of your candle, never burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This ensures a clean, even burn. When extinguishing, be careful as the glass may get hot. Never put out a candle with water, as this can cause the wax to splatter and may damage the glass.

If the flame flickers, smokes, or becomes too high, it’s a sign that something’s off. Extinguish the candle, let it cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts before lighting it again.

The End

Once your candle wax is down to about 10mm, it’s time to stop using it. This ensures a safe burn and avoids the risk of overheating the glass. If you’re done, you can repurpose the vessel as a planter or desk organiser to give it a second life.

Enjoy with Care

Never leave your candle burning unattended and always keep it out of reach of children and pets. For a gentle reminder, you’ll find instructions on the bottom of the jar. Enjoy your Verdaura candle with care, and let it create a soothing, fragrant atmosphere in your space.
